TINY KANSAS TOWN CLAIMS TO BE Y2K IMMUNE

PROTECTION, Kansas (Wireless Flash) -- Looks like the "K" in "Y2K" stands for "Kansas" because the tiny town of Protection, Kansas, claims to be the first town on the planet to be immune to the Y2K computer bug. A San Diego-based company called @Backup has installed every computer in the city with special data protection software designed to prevent any "Y2K" glitches come January 1, 2000. It might sound like a daunting job, but the truth is, there are only about 250 computers in the tiny, 560-person city. Interestingly, Protection is also the first American town to have been immunized with the polio vaccine.
