CINDY CRAWFORD WATCH OUT: AQUATIC SUPERMODELS ON YOUR TAIL

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- Cindy Crawford is getting some competition of the underwater kind now that a fashion photographer has created a whole generation of "aquatic supermodels." Photographer Howard Schatz has cultivated a stable of 10 fashion models who are experts at holding their breath and looking beautiful while underwater. Only one out of every 50 models he auditions are capable of working underwater, and he tests all potential "mermaid models" by having them swim 44 feet without taking a breath. Models who pass the test are outfitted in waterproof makeup and led to Schatz' special, pH balanced swimming pool studio which has very low levels of chlorine so the models don't get "red eye." Although the models get breaks every hour, Schatz admits that after each 10-hour photo shoot, he steps out of the pool looking like a prune. The "Don of Underwater Photography" is the author the new book, "Pool Light" (Graphis Press).
