LAST MINUTE ANIMAL SACRIFICES ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE

CINCINNATI, Ohio (Wireless Flash) -- Here's proof the Internal Revenue Service has a heart: animal sacrifices are tax- deductible. That's according to Cincinnati-based tax attorney Ed Lyon, who says you can deduct the cost of sacrificial chickens or other animals as long as they're part of a religious ceremony. What's even better is that if you raise the animals yourself, you can deduct the cost of food and cages. Another legitimate oddball tax deductions is sex therapy, which can be deducted as a medical expense if a doctor prescribes it. If you loan $1000 to a deadbeat who stiffs you, Lyon suggests getting even by sending him or her a 1099 form for the loan amount so he'll owe the tax you save. Finally, if you can't afford a divorce, you can always have your spouse declared mentally ill and sent to an institution. That way you can deduct legal fees as a medical expense. Lyon is the author of "The 60 Minute Tax Planner" (Prentice Hall).
