COMPUTER BACKLASH: PEN SALES SURGING

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- If you thought computers would make pencils and pens obsolete, guess again. These days, pen sales are actually booming. That's according to the Montblanc pen company, which says sales of its luxury pens have actually soared in the last few years --perhaps as a backlash to the increasing number of computers and the internet. The company claims demand for pens has increased so much in the last two years that they've had to open 25 new "pen boutiques" to satisfy customers needs. Montblanc CEO Fred Reffsin has a theory about the surge in scribes: he thinks computers have made communication so impersonal that people now crave the personal touch of handwriting letters and notes.
