NEW SURVEY: MOVIEGOERS PREFER SPECIAL EFFECTS OVER SPORTS

RESTON, Va. (Wireless Flash) -- If you're an aspiring Steven Spielberg who wants to make a hit movie, here's a tip: avoid any themes involving sports, boats, babies or menacing animals. PC Data, a marketing company, asked consumers to rate potential movie cliches on a scale of 1 to 10. The lowest ranked films were those featuring sports, boats, babies or mean animals. Highest ranked were films featuring special effects. Other movie stats gleaned from the poll... -- 47 percent of Americans see at least one movie a year, but 7 percent watch more than 40 while 3 percent avoid movies entirely. -- Comedies are the most popular; foreign films the least. -- And, finally, 48 percent say movie reviews have no effect whatsoever on their decision of what films to watch.
