BERLIN BLUE: GERMAN COPS CAN NOW WEAR BLUE JEANS

BERLIN (Wireless Flash) -- Cops in Germany are trading their regulation blues for blue jeans. That's because the German government has just given a thumbs-up to a new dress code that will allow officers to wear jeans while on patrol. During a six-month test period, officers who wore the denims said they felt "much more comfortable," while civilians admitted they found the jean-clad officers much less intimidating. German cops now plan on ordering $200,000 worth of denims -- but don't expect the trend to spread. Mort Feldman of the American-based National Association of Chiefs of Police, says there's no way American police will ever wear jeans on duty because it "just isn't professional" and doesn't command respect.
