WORLD'S FIRST HIP-HOP SPOON PLAYER

WORLD'S FIRST HIP-HOP SPOON PLAYER

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- A man who plays musical spoons hopes music lovers will "scoop up" his newest work -- the world's first hip-hop recording featuring spoons. 37-year-old Leland "Spoonful" Collins predicts the lowly spoon could become the musical instrument of the next century -- particularly because one of his silverware songs is appearing on an upcoming CD compilation called "The Millennium." Collins says spoons are the only instruments he uses -- except for a body-slapping backup provided by a friend known as "Slap Jazz." But hip-hop isn't the only tune Collins can play on his spoon -- he also performs jazz and classical music and has a special amplifier that makes his spoons sound like guitars, keyboards and even James Brown's trademark scream.
