`PANTS ACROSS AMERICA' WANTS TROUSERS FROM FORMER FATTIES

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) -- You remember "Hands Across America?" Now comes word of "Pants Across America." A San Diego lawyer is asking formerly overweight people who have undergone obesity surgery to send him any extra-large pants that are now too big for the former fatties. The jumbo pants will then be turned into a quilt to draw attention to the difficulties faced by overweight people and to inspire insurance companies and HMOs to fund surgery for the obese. Attorney Walter Lindstrom -- who once weighed 370 pounds himself -- wants pants from every U.S. state and foreign country. So far, the biggest pair submitted sports a whopping 58-inch waist. Lindstrom plans to take the massive miles of britches on a cross-country tour of America. He's also hopeful that talk show host Roseanne -- who's admitted having obesity surgery -- will help out by donating some of her old supersized slacks. You can send your fat pants to: "Pants Across America": 10900 E. 183rd St., Ste. 305, Cerritos, CA; 90703.
