AIRPORT DOGGIE HAS BIRDS ON THE BRAIN

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- A dog in Fort Myers, Florida, is just "plane lucky" because it's his job to chase away birds from an airport runway. Jet, a two-year-old border collie, spends about four hours each day chasing and herding birds away from the runways at Southwest Florida International Airport. Airport spokesperson Susan Sanders says birds collide with as many as 2,500 planes each year, causing an estimated $48 million in damage -- especially when a bird is sucked into a jet engine. Jet also tried to chase away and herd vagrant alligators -- until his trainer gave him a few "alligator sensitivity training sessions."
