GENE KELLY'S BROTHER: `AUDIENCE FOR TAP DANCING NOT TAPPED OUT'

TUCSON, Ariz. (Wireless Flash) -- Tomorrow (May 25) is National Tap Dance Day, but if you think the audience for tap dancing is tapped out, guess again. According to choreographer Fred Kelly, brother of Gene Kelly, tap dancing is making a comeback thanks to stage shows like "Riverdance" and "Lord Of The Dance", which are reintroducing tap dancing to Gen X'ers. 81-year-old Kelly -- who claims he invented the cha-cha -- also says the current hip-hop craze is bringing tap back from the grave. He's talked with many hip-hoppers who've told him they're realizing modern rap rhythms are just too difficult to dance to. Although Tuesday is officially National Tap Dance Day, Kelly won't be celebrating until next weekend when he appears at the Dallas Tap Festival, a three-day event that will take place May 28-30.
