TRAVEL SHOW HOST HAS `RATTY' TIME IN INDIA

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Think your job is rough? How'd you like to have to spend a few hours in a rat-infested temple? Believe it or not, that's was one of the assignments travel journalist Meagan McCormick recently had to face. McCormick, who co-hosts the Travel Channel series "Lonely Planet", says during a recent visit to West India, she had to enter a temple that was crawling with hundreds of rats. The rats have the run of the place because locals believe each rodent represents one of their ancestors. As a result, anyone who steps on a rat has to pay for the dead rodent's life with a piece of silver. McCormick admits she became squeamish as she tip-toed through the rat maze -- especially because she didn't want to step on anyone she might have known in a past life. "Lonely Planet: West India" will air June 5.
