NO WHEY! RESEARCHERS TURNING WHEY INTO ROAD DE-ICER

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Wireless Flash) -- Little Miss Muffett will be glad to hear this: Researchers in Ohio have found a way to get rid of the left-over whey from cheese manufacturing -- it makes a great de-icer. Chemical engineer S.T. Yang of Ohio State University says it's possible to turn the milky liquid into a powerful ice- melting solvent that would eliminate slippery highways and driveways. The new moo-juice mixture is preferable to current de-icing products like salt, because it won't corrode cars or harm freeway vegetation and is much cheaper to produce. However, progress on Yang's de-icing whey is frozen for now: He still needs to find a cheese manufacturer willing to donate the tons of whey needed to make his dream come true.
