ARE YOU A `HYPO-CAR-DRIAC?

RENO, Nev. (Wireless Flash) -- You've heard of hypochondria but what about "hypo-car-dria"? According to Corey Farley, a columnist for "Auto Week" magazine, "hypo-car-dria" is a condition where folks think something is wrong with their car even when there isn't. Farley says some drivers are so nervous whenever they hear a sputter, click or rattle, they become terrified to travel anywhere. He says the drivers most prone to the condition own FIATs -- an anagram for "Fix It Again, Tony." Although listening to your car is a good way to prevent problems, Farley says it's more important to know which sounds indicate real trouble and which are normal. There is hope for hypo-car-driacs, though. Farley says keeping a cell phone in your car for emergencies will give you enough peace of mind to overcome the syndrome.
