JIMI HENDRIX'S SECRET LIFE AS COUCH POTATO

JIMI HENDRIX'S SECRET LIFE AS COUCH POTATO

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) -- You knew Jimi Hendrix was a great guitarist but did you know he was also a big fan of "The Andy Griffith Show?" According to Jimi's dad, Al Hendrix, the guitarist especially loved the title sequence where Andy and Opie walk back from the fishing hole accompanied by the whistling theme. But while Jimi was a big Andy Griffith fan, he was more influenced musically by comedian Jonathan Winters. In fact, Papa Hendrix says his son would imitate Winters' voices and he thinks it may have encouraged Jimi to generate strange sounds while playing the guitar. Al Hendrix -- who will turn 80 this Thursday (June 10) -- discusses his famous son in a new book, "My Son Jimi" (AlJas Publishing).
