EVANDER HOLYFIELD'S NEXT OPPONENT: TED TURNER (EMBARGOED UNTIL FRIDAY, JUNE 11)

ATLANTA, Ga. (Wireless Flash) -- Evander Holyfield is about to lock horns with a new opponent: Ted Turner. The boxer is one of the co-founders of the Major Broadcasting Company, a new cable channel that will promote African-American family values. Holyfield isn't the only celebrity executive at the new network -- Michael Jackson's brother, Marlon, is president and former baseball player Cecil Fielder is helping the enterprise get on base. The three men say the MBC Network will have a gospel slant, and some of the shows scheduled for the fall debut have titles like "Rhythm & Praise", "Heavenly Laughter" and "Spiritual Impact." Although Holyfield's background has nothing to do with broadcasting, he's confident he can pull it off and says, "I know what's worth fighting for. This network is it."

CONTACT: Holyfield, Jackson and Fielder will be holding a press conference in Atlanta on Sunday (June 13); For info, contact B. Harlan Boll; LA; (310) 320-2010
