Y2K FEARS INSPIRE REMAKE OF `IN THE YEAR 2525'

DALLAS, Tex. (Wireless Flash) -- A remake of the 1969 hit "In The Year 2525" is the latest tune to be promoted as a Millennium Eve must-play. Denny Zager -- formerly one half of the songwriting duo of Zager and Evans -- claims the song's doomsday lyrics are perfect for ringing in the millennium Zager's new version is pretty much the same as the original except for longer instrumental sections, a men's choir and, for extra dramatic effect, the sound of an earthquake. Although he asked former partner Rick Evans to join him on the new recording, Evans declined and Zager admits his former colleague hasn't touched a guitar in 18 years. Zager plans on premiering his millennium version of "In The Year 2525" on a Dallas radio station later this week.
