MARGE AND HOMER SIMPSON TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

MARGE AND HOMER SIMPSON TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- If cartoon characters Homer and Marge Simpson were real people they'd be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary tomorrow (June 16). It turns out June 16, 1974, is the fictional date selected by the "Simpsons" writers as the day Homer and Marge were wed. Marriage counselor Deborah Cooper says it's obvious the Simpsons have a messy relationship in which Homer steps all over Marge -- but that doesn't mean they aren't happy. She thinks Marge enjoys being seen as a martyr because her husband's such a lout, while Homer loves the fact his wife will always clean up his messes. Cooper says if Homer were to change his boozing ways and become an upstanding citizen, Marge would probably lose interest in the relationship and ditch Homer because she'd no longer be the responsible one.
