`PET NANNIES' LATEST YUPPIE TREND

CALIFON, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- The corporate world may be a dog-eat-dog but it's spawning another industry: "pet nannies." According to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, many busy workers are hiring "pet nannies" to take care of their pooches or pussycats during the day. Spokesperson Lori Jenssen estimates the use of daytime pet nannies has doubled in the past three years. The pet sitters' target market is folks with 12-hour workdays who are just too busy to take Rover for his noontime walk or clean up after the new puppy. They also provide a distraction for pets, who can get lonely and depressed just like humans. The pet nannies typically charge $12 to 15 per visit.
