DON QUIXOTE PRIMED FOR COMEBACK?

DON QUIXOTE PRIMED FOR COMEBACK?

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Now that the movie "Shakespeare In Love" has made the Bard hip again, some Hollywood filmmakers are hoping to do the same for Don Quixote. The famed Spanish "windmill warrior" will soon be the subject of two films. The first, a TV-movie starring John Lithgow as Quixote, is scheduled to air sometime in the next year. The second is a big screen version starring Johnny Depp titled "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote." Depp plays a modern-day ad executive who gets transported back to 17th century Spain, where he becomes the title character. The film is being directed by former Monty Python member Terry Gilliam, who admits Quixote isn't that well known in the states. However, he's hoping Lithgow's TV-movie version will prime the pump so the audience won't be lost when his movie premieres sometime next year. Gilliam is the subject of a new book, "Dark Knights And Holy Fools: The Art And Films Of Terry Gilliam" (Universe Publishing).
