MEET THE LIBRARIAN BEHIND AMERICA'S SMALLEST PUBLIC LIBRARY

PROCTORVILLE, N.C. (Wireless Flash) -- A library in Proctorville, North Carolina, may be smaller than the books it carries. For the last few decades, the Proctorville Public Library has held the title of "America's Smallest Public Library," thanks to its low number of books: barely 500. However, one person who doesn't mind the low book count is the town's librarian, Beatrice Warwick, who admits the library is only open two days a week for 90 minutes. Even then, she seldom sees a customer because, in her words, "Everybody works and they can't get off the time I've got it open." It may be slow at the Proctorville Library, but Warwick doesn't mind it at all because, "The library's right close to the house."
