FORMER DOOBIE BROTHER BATTLES WITH THE WORD `BASTARD'

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- It looks like former Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald is willing to do anything for his art -- even if it offends the pastor of his church. That's what happened recently when McDonald recorded a vocal for the soundtrack of the upcoming movie, "South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut." The chorus for the ditty includes the lyrics: "They've yet to realize the bastards that they really are/ Sure life is kinda gay/ But it doesn't seem that way/ Through the eyes of a child." Producer Arif Mardin says McDonald had a hard time singing the word "bastard" without cracking up and admits the singer was worried the word might offend his pastor. Although Mardin admits the lyrics to "Through The Eyes Of A Child" are a bit twisted, he predicts the ditty could replace "Pomp And Circumstance" as the graduation theme of the future.
