SUSAN B. ANTHONY COIN TURNS 20 (JULY 2)

HAWTHORNE, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- Whoever said change is good wasn't talking about the Susan B. Anthony dollar. It seems the coin -- which will celebrate its 20th birthday next Friday (July 2) -- has never made "cents" to coin collectors. That's according to New Jersey-based currency expert Andrew Gause, who says the Susan B. Anthony dollar caused too much confusion because it's roughly the same size as a quarter. Although nearly $800 million worth of the coins were minted between 1979 and 1981, the U.S. government couldn't give them away. It even experimented with paying U.S. military personnel stationed in Europe entirely in Susan B. Anthony coins. Although Gause hates the Anthony coin, he predicts success for the new dollar coin which will feature Sacajawea -- the Native American woman who helped Lewis and Clark map out the Louisiana Purchase. The coin will be put into circulation next year.
