`CAT DANCING' HOT NEW TREND

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Wireless Flash) -- "Cat dancing" may soon replace swing dancing if a man in New Zealand has his way. Burton Silver, author of the upcoming book "Dancing With Cats" (Chronicle), is promoting human-feline interaction on the dance floor -- or at least on your living room floor. Cat dancing enthusiasts in New Zealand can even attend dancing classes where folks are taught how to get their cats into the groove. Silver says most cat dancers start out by holding their cats in their arms and then gently swaying to the music. More experienced cat dancers go wild with full-blown funk sessions where the cat leaps and twists to the beat of the music. It may sound bizarre, but Silver claims some folks have overcome depression just by cutting the rug with their pussycats.
