BAD TEETH CAN LEAD TO PREGNANCY PROBLEMS

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- A mouthful of bad teeth is bad news for pregnant women. According to New Jersey-based dentist Dr. Barbara Rich, pregnant women who have gum disease have a higher chance of delivering a baby with medical problems. Rich says the germs that cause the disease can infect the fetus, which can cause the child to have a low birth weight. What's worse is that fluctuations in hormone levels already make pregnant women more susceptible to gum disease. Dr. Rich says women pregnant women should have their teeth cleaned by a dentist at least twice during their pregnancy, and take extra care when brushing and flossing to keep germs at bay.
