MAN WHO HIRED BEATLES FOR FIRST RELEASE STILL HAPPY

KIEL, Germany (Wireless Flash) -- British singer Tony Sheridan isn't as financially successful as his former backing band, the Beatles, but he has no regrets. The 59-year-old Sheridan -- whose version of "My Bonnie" was the first recording to feature John, Paul, George and Ringo -- says his connection to the Beatles has kept him working over the last 35 years. He describes Paul as the "most natural" musician of the gang and also the one with the most ambition, while John had the most wit and sarcasm which made him a blast to be around. These days, Sheridan is singing in European bars and nightclubs and "Yesterday" is the only Beatles song he performs - - but, according to him, "it isn't really a Beatles song -- it's everybody's." Sheridan will be appearing this Sunday (July 11) at the BeatleFair '99, a Fab Four convention in San Diego.
