`BORN-AGAIN TECHIES' PART OF NEW CORPORATE LINGO

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- If you hear you co-workers talking about "BATS," they're probably not chatting about animals. According to business trend expert John Challenger, "BATS" is an acronym for "born-again techies," and refers to career- changing employees who are taking crash courses in computer technology. Challenger says the Information Age is responsible for all sorts of unusual terms popping up in corporate lingo these days, including... -- "Cyberfired," which is when you're fired via e-mail. It's also known as "pink mail." -- "Permtemps:" Workers who are permanently employed on a part-time basis. -- A "changeling" is a flexible worker who is in high demand. -- And, finally, "cyberboosting" refers to the practice of creating bogus, web-generated technical credentials on a resume. Challenger says there are so many new terms that he eventually hopes to put together a dictionary of the techno talk.
