PSYCHICS HOPE TO WIN $1 MILLION BY ALTERING SKEPTIC'S HEARTBEAT (EMBARGOED UNTIL 4 P.M. PDT)

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- A team of paranormal researchers hopes to become $1 million richer by psychically altering the heartbeat of famed skeptic, James Randi -- a.k.a. The Amazing Randi. The 70-year-old Randi has a $1 million standing offer to anyone who can prove psychic abilities under truly scientific conditions. So far, he hasn't had to pay out a dime. But the Los Angeles-based International Society for Paranormal Research plans on taking a crack at the $1 million booty. A spokesperson says the group will prove psychic ability actually exists by mentally stopping one of Randi's heart valves while he's monitored by an EKG. Paranormal researcher Larry Montz admits it's a drastic display, but he claims it's the only way Randi will be convinced of psycho-kinesis ability. Randi says he'll participate in the test if all the details can be worked out, and he'll even prepare for the event by eating extra helpings of heart-clogging foods.
