RURAL TOWN GEARING UP FOR Y2K BATTLE WITH CITY SLICKERS

GRAFTON, N.H. (Wireless Flash) -- A tiny village in New Hampshire is up in arms over a rumored Y2K invasion by gun-toting city slickers. Residents of Grafton, New Hampshire -- population 900 -- have heard through the grapevine that some urban dwellers are preparing to invade rural areas at the end of December and enslave the locals. One Grafton resident believes the rumor must have some basis in truth because the tiny community has had a steady increase in new residents in the past seven months. According to Lisa Rogak, the new arrivals are mostly city dwellers who are building "Y2K survival shacks" stocked with bottled water and canned goods in anticipation of a computer meltdown on January 1. Rogak says some villagers are preparing for an invasion from a group of Connecticut citizens who have threatened to raid Grafton with guns and force the locals into some type of slave labor. Although she believes the invasion is legitimate, she predicts locals will easily defeat the city slickers using techniques similar to those used by Macauley Culkin in "Home Alone."
