`PICK-UP PAGERS' TO FINALLY HIT U.S.

`PICK-UP PAGERS' TO FINALLY HIT U.S.

BOSTON, Mass. (Wireless Flash) -- Hard-up singles are about to get a helping hand thanks to the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC has just approved the use of miniature radio transmitters that function as "electronic matchmakers." The pager-sized devices -- called "Lovegetys" -- are already a hit in Japan and come in "male" and "female" models. The gadgets start beeping whenever a user comes within 25 feet of another user of the opposite sex. Users can then pick what they're looking for in a relationship such as "a chat," "a movie," "fun," "a drink," or "a dance." Although the relationship options are currently tame, the U.S.-models of the "pick-up pagers" will feature a special "adult version" allowing users to select the type of sexual activities they prefer. The Lovegetys will be available later this year.
