NEW BOOK OFFERS LESBIAN PREGNANCY TIPS

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- Lesbians who are trying to become pregnant can now get a tip or two from a new do-it- yourself pregnancy book. The book -- "The Ultimate Guide To Pregnancy For Lesbians" (Cleis Press) -- is written by lesbian mother Rachel Pepper, who says the biggest problem a lesbian faces in getting pregnant is - - you guessed it -- trying to find sperm. Although sperm banks can be a good option, Pepper says they're costly and you often have no clue as to what the donor looked like until the baby is born. Some lesbian couples try to use a sperm donor from the family of the woman who won't be carrying the child so the baby will at least share some DNA related to both lesbian parents. However, Pepper admits other lesbians will have a one-night- stand with a man or ask them point blank for a donation -- but she doesn't recommend this for lesbians in committed relationships. As for the old cliche of using a turkey baster -- forget it. Pepper recommends using a syringe without a needle because a turkey baster can cause problems when it's inserted.
