TOOTHPICK HOLDER COLLECTORS GET DAY IN SUN

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Wireless Flash) -- Some people will collect just about anything. Need proof? just head to Lincoln, Nebraska, next weekend for the 24th Annual National Toothpick Holder Collectors' convention, which takes place August 12-15. Collector Pauline Soderholm expects about 160 toothpick holder collectors will show up to discuss the finer points of their chosen hobby -- the lowly toothpick holder. Soderholm admits the hobby is unusual but says most collectors like toothpick holders because it reminds them of a kinder, gentler era when it was okay to pick your teeth at the dining room table. Although the invention of dental floss helped to nearly kill off the toothpick, she finds toothpick holders are simply too lovely to throw away, especially those made from china, glass or silver. Some toothpick holders can sell for as much as $5000 to a collector -- not counting the toothpicks.
