BOTTLED WATER IN HOT WATER WITH EYE DOCS

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- Bottled water may be good for your gut but it's murder on your eyes -- at least if you wear contact lenses. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is warning contact lens wearers not to use bottled water to rinse their lenses. Research from Baylor College of Medicine suggests as many as 37 percent of bottled water brands are contain bacteria and microorganisms that can cause eye infections. The study says much of the filth comes from poorly maintained filtration equipment at bottled water plants. The Academy says that while most bottled water is safe to drink, lens wearers should only use sterile solutions designed for rinsing and storing lenses.
