`SHORT WAVE MUSIC' WAVE OF THE FUTURE?

JAMESTOWN, R.I. (Wireless Flash) -- Music made from bleeps and buzzes heard on short wave radio may be the "sound wave" of the future, if two artists in Rhode Island have their way. Duncan Laurie and Steve Cerilli are currently creating an album that uses bizarre electronic sounds transmitted over short wave radio. Some of the sounds include a female voice reading numbers that's supposedly an encoded CIA spy message and tones that sound like those used by meditating Buddhist monks. The end result sounds similar to techno music, but Laurie -- who's been perfecting the "short wave sound" for several years -- says the strange soundscapes are more than just entertainment. He claims the music and tones are designed to conduct energy through the listener because his studio is specially constructed to conduct energy from the earth into the recordings. The two audio artists hope to release the first album of short wave music by next fall.
