MAMA BEAR WANTS HER PRIVACY WITH PAPA BEAR

HARRISBURG, Penn. (Wireless Flash) -- The drought and the black bear mating season are dealing a double whammy for young bears and humans in Pennsylvania. It seems mama bears have started kicking the cubs out of their dens in order to enjoy the current mating season, and the young "latchkey bears" are being forced to look for food in other areas. Jerry Feaser of the Pennsylvania Game Commission says the current drought has dried up most of the bears' normal food sources and is forcing juvenile bears to move onto human turf to raid trash dumpsters, bird feeders and compost piles. Feaser says there have been just 10 bear attacks in Pennsylvania over the last 25 years -- and none of them were fatal. He hopes to keep the safety streak going, but admits things could get hairy if the drought continues.
