`KING OF THE WOOD' -- COMPANY TO SELL `ELVIS TREES'

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Wireless Flash) -- A lot of sycamore trees will be "all shook up" come August 20th. That's when an organization called American Forests will begin selling sycamore trees harvested from Elvis Presley's Graceland estate. Spokesperson Louis DiGiusto says the QVC cable channel will handle sales of the 4-foot-tall saplings which are cultivated from seeds produced by a large sycamore tree that overlooks the Graceland stables. Each sapling will cost $32 and the trees will only be sold on the 20th -- which happens to be just four days after the 22nd anniversary of Elvis' death (Aug. 16). Although DiGiusto believes most fans will buy the "Elvis trees" and turn them into shrines to the King, he hopes that the sycamore project will also encourage more people to plant trees. The forest organization also sells trees which originated at the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg, JFK's grave site and George Washington's Mt. Vernon estate.
