JERRY LEWIS TELETHON TO USE RERUNS AS FILLER

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash) -- Jerry Lewis is enlisting Cher, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to help boost the sagging ratings for his annual Labor Day telethon -- but the divas won't be appearing in the flesh. Organizers of the Muscular Dystrophy fund-raiser say they will re-run clips from the "VH1 Divas Live" concert which aired earlier this year -- but not all of the performances will be canned on the 21 1/2 hour telethon. The show will also feature live performances by former "Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander, Carrot Top, Laura Dern and "JAG" stud David James Elliot. Lewis hopes this year's round-up of talent -- even if some of them are only on tape -- will help him beat last year's telethon haul of $51.6 million.
