CAN POPCORN CRAVINGS PREDICT EARTHQUAKES?

SALEM, Ore. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's something to chew on: a woman in Salem, Oregon, claims popcorn can help foretell earthquakes. Earthquake predictor Charlotte King claims humans usually get sudden cravings for popcorn 72 hours before an earthquake hits. It may sounds nutty, but King claims the cravings occur because popcorn contains "choline," a B-complex vitamin that balances the nervous system during stressful times such as earthquakes. She says cravings for cornbread, corn chips and corn-on-the- cob are also clues that an earthquake is on its way Although King's theories are intriguing, the Chicago-based Popcorn Institute is taking them with a grain of salt. Spokeswoman Dierdre Flynn says her organization has no evidence of a rise in popcorn sales 72 hours before an earthquake.
