AEROBICS GOOD FOR THE MUSCLES, BAD FOR THE EARS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Attending aerobics classes may be good for your muscles -- but it's murder on your ears. According to a new study conducted by "Consumer Reports" magazine, continuous exposure to the loud music played at most aerobics classes can damage your hearing. Instructors often pump up the volume of the music to pump up their students -- which can spell trouble for ears if you attend multiple workout sessions. The findings ring in loud and clear with experts at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, who say the roaring noise of workout music can slowly whittle away your hearing while you're whittling away pounds. If you participate in aerobics classes, it's recommended that you wear earplugs or stay as far away as possible from blaring boom-boxes or loudspeakers.
