EXPERTS: ASTEROIDS BIGGER THREAT THAN PUBLIC REALIZES

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- If you thought the asteroid disaster flick "Armageddon" was just a bunch of Hollywood hooey, think again: top scientists are now admitting the space rocks truly pose a serious threat to Earth. According to Richard Godwin of the Space Frontier Foundation, there are an estimated 1700 asteroids headed straight toward Earth that scientists have yet to discover. Godwin claims it time scientists stopped pooh-poohing potential asteroid risks and start searching the skies for deadly space rocks. To get the asteroid rolling, the Space Frontier Foundation has just handed out two grants to observatories in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. Godwin says he'd like to see every country in the world join the search for asteroids, and the money will help the two cash- strapped nations do just that.
