SOCKING IT TO THE JOCKSTRAP

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- Good news for football players heading back to the field: a top urologist wants to sock it to jockstraps. Dr. Herbert Sohn says the crotch supporters can be a hotbed for bacteria and many players end up with embarrassing rashes because they don't wash their jocks properly. He says he knows of at least a few professional athletes who, because of dirty jock straps, suffered chronic groin infections that kept them out of play. Dr. Sohn says you can prevent rashes and infections by simply refusing to wear a jockstrap because they just aren't necessary -- plain old jockey shorts can support a man's "equipment" just fine. However, if you need a little more support, Dr. Sohn suggests stuffing a rolled-up washcloth into your shorts to elevate your testicles.
