GERMAN ACCORDION PLAYER WRITES PRO-CIGAR PROTEST SONG

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- A German accordion player who loves Cuban cigars has co-written a pro-cigar protest song he hopes will end the U.S. trade embargo with Cuba. Walter Kuehr -- leader of the New York-based Latin lounge act Last Of The International Playboys -- hopes the band's new song, "Havana Bananas" will become the anthem for cigar-loving lounge lizards. Some of the lyrics include... "We don't care if it's against the law/ When we're smokin' Cohibas, drinkin' alcohol/ Don't give a damn about politics/ Got a friend in Toronto who's got the fix." Kuehr -- who co-wrote the song with band member Bruce Charlap -- admits his reasons for wanting the embargo lifted are self-centered: he loves Cuban stogies and wants to be able to smoke them without breaking the law.
