WIRELESS FLASH BRIEFS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Olympian athlete Jesse Owens is running off with yet another honor: He's President Clinton's favorite athlete. According to "TV Guide," the Prez thinks Owens is the best American athlete of the century, followed by Willie Mays and Michael Jordan. Clinton also gives high fives to Muhammad Ali, Billie Jean King, the 1999 U.S. Women's World Cup Soccer Team and, strangely enough, the race horse, Secretariat. -- HOLLYWOOD -- Art imitated life on the set of the upcoming Gulf War movie "Three Kings." Producers of the George Clooney drama -- which is supposed to take place in Iraq -- actually sent spies into Iraq to take photos of the terrain and architecture. Set designers used the covert pics to construct accurate-looking villages, mosques and bunkers. -- SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres batting whiz Tony Gwynn will be signing the biggest autograph of his career later today. In honor of Gwynn hitting his 3000th career hit earlier this year, he will be autographing a city bus decorated in his likeness. Gwynn's gigantic John Hancock is expected to be about five feet wide and will be kept on the bus for about three months.
