EARLIEST-KNOWN BASEBALL: YOURS FOR $25,000

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- They say you can't put a price on history -- don't tell that to the auctioneers at Sotheby's. On September 23, the New York auction house will sell what is believed to be the earliest-known baseball in existence. It's valued at a minimum of $25,000. The baseball dates back to 1846 and was reportedly used by the world's first baseball team, the New York Knickerbockers. Other items on the auction block include a baseball bat used by Babe Ruth as a cane. It's expected to fetch as much as $100,000. There's also a ticket for the 1903 World Series, the first year the series was held. It's value is at least $8,000. Finally, there's a signed photograph of Marilyn Monroe wearing skimpy shorts and swinging at a baseball. It could fetch as much as $30,000.
