BONO GIVES POPE PAIR OF COOL SHADES

VATICAN CITY (Wireless Flash) -- The Pope may have a secret desire to be a rock and roller if yesterday's meeting with U2 singer Bono is any indication. The U2 singer was one of a group of celebrities including Quincy Jones and Sir Bob Geldof who are asking the Pope to support "Jubilee 2000," a plan where financially successful countries would cancel the debt of Third World nations. Although the meeting was political, Bono took a moment to praise the Pope as both a holy man and a showman and gave his Holiness a book of poetry and a pair of black wrap-around snowboarding shades. Amazingly, the Pope immediately put on the glasses and, in Bono's words, "peered over the top at me in truly funky fashion."
