DEATH ROW ROCK BAND KEEPS LOSING MEMBERS

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) -- Life is anything but a gas on death row. That's according to "Dallas Morning News" reporter Dan Malone, who interviewed more than 50 inmates sentenced to death for his upcoming book "America's Condemned: Death Row Inmates in Their Own Words" (Andrews-McMeel). Although most people think of death row inmates as murderous psychos, Malone says some of them have interesting prison hobbies -- such as the death row garage band, Imbalance. The five-member band of inmates from Potosi Correctional Center in Missouri actually sent Malone a demo tape of songs composed and recorded in the prison's rec room. The music sounds like low-budget "garage rock" and the songs have lyrics like: "Lord, hear his cry/ Suddenly it's time to die." Unfortunately, Imbalance's days were numbered and the band recently went kaput after both the bass player and the drummer/lead vocalist were executed.
