`BRADY BUNCH' BAD FOR STEPFAMILIES?

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Wireless Flash) -- This Sunday (Sept. 26) will mark the 30th anniversary of the day "The Brady Bunch" first premiered. Although the show is still a big hit with Gen X'ers, a family counselor in North Carolina says the show's depiction of stepfamilies has been a problem for family counselors even since the show debuted in 1969. Taube Kaufman says many of her clients have fallen for the show's fantasy image of stepfamilies as "instant families" where all serious problems are solved within a half-hour. She says the only realistic aspect of the Brady lore is the sexual attraction between Greg and Marsha depicted in the "Brady" spoof "A Very Brady Sequel." Kaufman claims the "Brady Bunch" wouldn't be a problem for American families if there was a disclaimer at the beginning of the show saying, "This isn't the way life really works."
