GAUDY GRANITE GRAVE MEMORIALS HOT NEW TREND

COLD SPRING, Minn. (Wireless Flash) -- Looks like Baby Boomers are bringing their unique sense of style to the spirit world as well as the living world. According to a Minnesota company which manufactures grave memorials, Baby Boomers dealing with the deaths of their parents are spearheading a hot new trend: gaudy granite grave markers. Mel Lommel (LAH-mel) of Cold Spring Granite says he's made all sorts of unique memorials in recent months -- such as a giant snowmobile for a deceased man who loved to ride on snowmobiles. Another family requested a granite memorial that was an exact replica of the boat that the deceased passed away in. Lommel says he's also created a granite train for a late railroad engineer, a huge granite salmon for a guy who loved fishing and a granite replica of a farm -- complete with cows, pigs and horses -- for a farmer in Iowa. He says the gaudy grave memorials go for anywhere from $2000-$12,000.
