DENNIS WEAVER: ACTOR IS NOW HEMP ADVOCATE

RIDGEWAY, Colo. -- Add septuagenarian star Dennis Weaver to the crop of Hollywood celebs who want to legalize hemp. 75-year-old Weaver -- best known for his role as TV detective "McCloud" -- is currently campaigning to get marijuana's non-hallucinogenic cousin legalized in California. He recently saw the wonders of hemp first-hand while filming an upcoming TV movie in Canada where hemp farming is legal. Weaver says he supports industrial hemp because he believes it's an environmentally-harmless plant that can be used to make everything from rope to clothing. Now he hopes to remove the stigma against hemp in the U.S. and educate folks who think hemp is the same as marijuana. The plant is -- in his words -- "worthless as a drug."
