IT'S BACK TO 1982 FOR FUTURISTIC DEVO

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Techno band Devo may be known for its futuristic philosophy -- but its latest project is definitely retro. The band has opened its vaults to dig out three previously- unheard tracks from the early '80s to be used in a new retro car chase video game from Activision called "Interstate '82." Devo singer Mark Mothersbaugh says the songs featured in the game -- "Modern Life," "One Dumb Thing" and "Faster And Faster" - - were recorded between 1981 and 1982. Mothersbaugh also composed a new instrumental backing score for the game -- which some insiders claim sounds like the theme to Knight Rider. It turns out Devo has literally thousands of unheard songs from the same time period sitting Mothersbaugh's basement -- some of which he admits would bore even the biggest Devo devotees.
