`HAUNTED' CONNECTICUT TOWN TRYING TO RIDE `BLAIR WITCH' COATTAILS

MOODUS, Conn. (Wireless Flash) -- Connecticut tourism officials are taking a tip from "The Blair Witch Project:" they're inviting tourists to come and investigate strange goings-on in a town called Moodus. It seems the area has been plagued by mysterious rumbling noises for as long as anyone can remember -- and local lore claims it's the sound of witches being blown out of their caves. A spokesperson admits the new tourism campaign is inspired by the recent crowds who are hunting for witches in the woods outside Burkittsville, Maryland, where "The Blair Witch Project" was filmed. Tourism director Jackie LaBella claims it's time for the witch hunters to leave Maryland and come to Connecticut instead.
